Snowy egret (Egretta thula)

Egretta thula is found in North, Central and South America, as well as in the Caribbean. It breeds in coastal and inland wetlands, but its range limits have changed over time due to the effects of hunting and habitat loss.

Habitat:

El hábitat de la garceta común varía mucho, e incluye las orillas de los lagos y ríos, canales, lagunas, pantanos, charcas y tierras inundables. Las garcetas prefieren los lugares despejados a los emplazamientos con cobertura vegetal muy densa. En la costa habita en los manglares, marismas, llanuras de marea, playas arenosas y arrecifes. Los arrozales también suponen un hábitat importante donde pueden vivir. Las garcetas con frecuencia se desplazan entre el ganado para alimentarse de los parásitos.

Diet:

It consists mainly of fish, but also eat amphibians, small reptiles, mammals and birds, as well as crustaceans, mollusks, insects, spiders and worms.

Resident bird with year-round sighting and spring nesting on Boulevard trees at Islas del Mar.

Location:

It is located throughout the property near the water. Nesting colonies in trees of the boulevard.
