Honey Mesquite – (Prosopis glandulosa)

It is a medium to small tree, with a rounded crown and crooked, sloping branches with light foliage, and pairs of straight thorns in twigs. It usually reaches 5 to 9 m in height, but can reach 14 m. It blooms from March to November, with pale, yellow and elongated spikes, and fruits in yellow pods, edible by many wild animal species.

Habitat:
It is native to the arid and semi-arid areas of the southern United States and northern Mexico. In addition, it is distributed throughout the American continent from Central America, northern South America, and the Caribbean islands.

Localización:
In Islas del Mar the mesquites can be appreciated throughout the entire property.
