Gregg Acacia (Acacia greggii)

Acacia greggii is a species of acacia native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is a large shrub or small tree that grows up to 10 m tall, with a trunk up to 20 to 30 cm in diameter. The leaves are greyish green, have numerous hooked spines with the shape and size of a cat’s claw, which tend to hook on passers-by; the hooked person must stop to remove the spines carefully to avoid injury or torn clothing.

Habitat:
The greggii acacia can be seen in regions where there are deep water streams, and these are located so that their root can access these waters. They spread through dry regions where there are trees that lose their leaves during some times of the year and where they lose their leaves during most of the year.
