Mexican fan palm – (Washingtonia robusta)

Palm up to 25 m tall and 40 cm broad, fan-shaped leaves with size of 90 to 150 cm and with orange thorns around its trunk, resistant to cold and drought. It is one of the largest and most cultivated palms in the world. Its scientific name (Washingtonia) is in honor of George Washington.

Habitat:
Native to Sonora and Baja California. It lives in dry and semi-desert regions and forms a kind of oasis near the water.
